About Me

My name is Carlos Molina and on this page I’ll tell you a little about myself, how I got started in the stock market, and why I created this blog.

I explored most of the financial markets learning about stocks, options, swing trading, and day trading. It took me a long time to learn the dynamics of supply and demand and how to interpret this on a stock chart. I’m not the smartest person in the world, but I am PERSISTENT!

After testing the waters in each area I decided to master trading stocks and options using swing trading and day trading as my main source of income. If you are just starting out you should really think about what you want to trade and your time frame.

I went to many websites to see if someone would teach me how to trade stocks. I found many people anxious to help me – if I paid them thousands of dollars up front! No thanks. If they figured it out, then I could figure it out (I told you I was persistent!).

My Trading Experience

I’ve been trading since early 1990s as passive, long term, buy and hold investor. After having lived through the DOT COM crash, as well as the bounce thereafter, I realized that in order to make money in the market our EXITS are far more important. If one doesn’t have any strategy to book profits or cut loss, then the net gain over long term fluctuates a lot.

Trading Skills

As I started my journey to become Professional-Trader, I was influenced a lot by the concepts and approach given by leading professional coach for traders and Investors. From there and from all my experiences in the market, I developed my formula for trading successfully.
Patience + Discipline + Money Management + System = Profit

What do I see when planing my trades:

1) Get the big picture of the market and identify right instrument to trade.
2) Identify the current trend of instrument in 3 timeframes – short, medium and long.
a. For day trading my timeframes are – short (3 minutes), medium (15 minutes), long (60 minutes).
b. For swing trading my timeframes are – short (<5 day), medium (upto 20 days), long (>20 days).
c. For positional trading my timeframes are – short (<20 day), medium (upto 100 days), long (>100 days).
3) Identify the current market condition and select the right trading system for current market condition. (VERY IMPORTANT)
4) Apply position size and money management rules and take the trade.
5) Manage trade for exits as per the exit rules of the trading sytem.
7) And the most important of all points: “Never let a winner turn into a loser.”
