2009 Performance

This post displays all of my transactions for the year 2009. (Options and Stock transactions).

NOTE: As of Dec 31, 2008 my portfolio was taking a hit with my position in Goldman Sachs (GS), down (-28% and -21%). Also my Costco (COST) position was suffering, down -7%.

As a trader, you need to have some time frame of holding attached to your positions and also an EXIT strategy. I was really closed to dump my Goldman Sachs position when it was down as much as $50. But I knew the market was doing all the damaged, I was a believer in the company and still am. Then, somewhere in November, we had Mr. Buffet jumping into the stock, just the confirmation of growth expectations I already knew.

For the year 2009,
Dow Jones % return, 18.8%
S&P 500 % return, 23.45%
My portfolio % return, 36.8%

Details below, a very quiet year for me. But looking back at it, there was ONE thing that stood up…NOT EVEN ONE LOSING TRADE. I couldn’t believe it… and I still cannot. As an active trader that I am, last year I decided to take a LONG shot at the markets, and it worked.
